Mundo Verde International

Mundo Verde, a non-profit organization, was founded by Arnoldo Televario Coche, a local school teacher, agronomist, and dedicated gardener. This organization has had a profound impact on numerous families by providing them with small, sustainable gardens. These gardens not only serve as a vital source of nutritious food for these families but also offer an additional stream of income.

Mundo Verde's approach to sustainable gardening is not only environmentally conscious but also empowers families to cultivate their own food, thereby enhancing their overall health and well-being. The organization collaborates closely with small communities, imparting the knowledge and skills needed to plant and maintain their gardens. They supply educational resources and unwavering support, ensuring that families are equipped with both the understanding and materials necessary to cultivate their own wholesome produce.

The presence of these small, sustainable gardens yields significant benefits for individual families and entire neighborhoods. By growing their own food, families can reduce their dependence on costly, processed foods and, instead, savor healthy, locally sourced ingredients. Moreover, surplus produce can be bartered or sold within the community, presenting an additional source of income. This not only bolsters economic stability but also fosters a sense of unity and camaraderie among neighbors. Access to fresh, healthful produce also instills a sense of optimism for the future, as families witness the tangible rewards of their hard work and dedication.

Mundo Verde's relentless efforts are undeniably transforming the lives of those they serve. Their commitment to sustainable gardening practices ensures that these benefits will endure for generations to come.

Communal Gardens & Greenhouses

Communal Gardens & Greenhouses

We are in the process of constructing new greenhouses and establishing communal gardens specifically intended to support single mothers and women. This collaborative effort enables a small group of women to share the gardening responsibilities by alternating their workdays in the garden. Within these greenhouses, high-yield crops such as tomatoes are cultivated, and subsequently sold to local merchants. The resulting proceeds are then equitably distributed among the participating families, ensuring a fair distribution of income.

Youth Education: Gardening, Reforestation, Recycling

Youth Education: Gardening, Reforestation, Recycling

Classes are held to educate children between the ages of 5 and 15 on the fundamental aspects of cultivating a small subsistence garden, often resulting in children sharing their newfound knowledge with their parents.

Alongside gardening instruction, Mundo Verde is actively involved in reforestation efforts aimed at replenishing the diminishing number of trees exported for lumber.

In our contemporary society, the consumption of imported soft drinks and processed foods generates a significant amount of waste. In the absence of proper waste removal services, these containers frequently end up in landfills or scattered throughout forests. Mundo Verde enlightens children on the importance of collecting aluminum, plastics, and glass, emphasizing the significance of delivering these materials to a local recycling center.
